United Houndsmen of Colorado
At the United Houndsmen of Colorado, our mission is to foster a community dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and ethical practice of hunting with dogs in the beautiful state of Colorado. We are committed to upholding the traditions of this time-honored sport while advocating for responsible and sustainable hunting practices. Our organization strives to protect the rights of houndsmen, preserve the natural environment, and honor the bond between hunters and their canine companions. Through education, conservation efforts, and a strong sense of camaraderie, we aim to ensure the continued enjoyment of hunting with dogs for generations to come, all while respecting the rich heritage and diverse wildlife that make Colorado a unique and cherished hunting destination.

Dean is a lifelong hunter and Coloradan with a Bachelor's degree from Colorado State in Animal Science and experience working in the agriculture industry; supervising the Wild Horse program and ag programs for the Department of Corrections; and as a Wildlife Technician, District Wildlife Manager, Area Wildlife Manager and a Deputy Regional Manager for Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Jeni James Arndt
Jeni is the current mayor of Fort Collins, and was a Colorado State Representative representing District 53 and a legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus member from January 2015 until she was elected mayor in April 2021.

Jim served as the Colorado State Representative for District 60 from January 2013 through the end of 2020, and was a member of the legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus. His political career followed a 40-year career as an educator. Jim was raised on and operated a farm in Kansas, hunts anything with everything, and currently has 2 mules: Apache and Jack.

Perry Will
Perry is currently the Colorado State Senator representing District 5, and the co-chair of the legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus. He also represented District 57 in the Colorado State House and was a leader of the Sportsmen’s Caucus from 2019-2022. Prior to that, Perry spent over 40 years serving the state as a Parks and Wildlife Game Warden in rural and Western Colorado.

Ron Velarde
Ron worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife (now Colorado Parks and Wildlife) for 47 years. He was the Northwest Regional Manager for the last 17 years of his employment with the DOW. Prior to that, Ron was a District Wildlife Manager (Game Warden), Area Wildlife Manager, and Assistant Regional Manager for the Southeast Region.
